This cool black leather and nylon kidney belt is great for motorcycle riders, especially those who ride bikes with rigid frames. The back of the belt has lumbar support strips to help keep your back straight, and the elastic leather kidney belts on the sides keeps your kidneys from shaking around (It keeps your gut sucked in, too). It is 4 3/4 inches wide in the front, and is 8 1/2 inches wide in the center gucci mens belts of the back. The kidney belt is a size S/M, and fits from 34 to 40 inches around the middle of your waist. It features chrome buckles and eyelets, and has small pockets on each side of the front, perfect for holding cigarettes, lighters, cell phones or toll money. It makes a great gift for anyone who likes to ride long distance
What makes kidney belts so historically interesting is that they were one of the first articles of riding wear that were adapted specifically for motorcycle riding, and they were also among the first articles to be personalized by the rider. Archival photos as early as about 1920, show motorcycle riders wearing kidney belts with personalized studs depicting the rider’s initials and other designs. Other historical photos over the decades show club riders and rally attendees in their favorite riding belts, both “stock” and highly personalized. Numerous belts in the Archives’ collections are as unique and imaginative as motorcycle riders themselves with highlights such as reflectors, hand tooling on the leather and even handles for the rear seat rider.
Harley-Davidson began offering belts to riders in the accessories catalog as early as 1927. The “Brown Cowhide Leather Belt” was offered as a “Grade B” for $3, or, if you wanted to splurge, the “Grade A” leather belt supplier was available for $4. In later years, Harley-Davidson offered leather riding belts complete with studs, gems, conchos, pockets and the Bar & Shield logo. Alternatives to the typical flat leather construction were a woven leather configuration for flexibility.
On the right is a picture of my uncle sporting his personalized kidney belt. I can remember finding this up-stairs at grandma’s house when I was about ten. I thought my uncle may have been a wrestler, I had seen these things on the TV. The back side of the kidney belt had his initials in chrome studs.

Already on the fashion radar, granted, but this new book of photographs by Karl Heinz Weinberger (Rizzoli 2011) is another chance to look at his innovative work. This unassuming part-time Swiss photographer meticulously documented the delinquent Swiss biker gangs of the early 60s. Swiss cheese this is not! The hard-edged homo-erotic portraits revel in the fetishistic detail of DIY denim and customised leather, the minutiae of a subculture that make these pictures pure fashion. Pre-dating punk and pre-empting the films of Kenneth Anger, the contradiction of the throwback 50s boys style with the 1960
s girls beehives and mohair, make this an essential and fascinating reference.
Just wondering if some one can shed a bit
leather kidney belts of light on kidney belts. I do a bit of part time work as an earthmover. Some days I have no aches and at the end of other days my back can be really sore. Sitting on a digger is no worries but its when I spend a long period on the bobcat that it tends to play up. It was suggested to me that I think about a belt but never really thought about it till after work yesterday. I am still a bit sore now and its settling down ( spent 6 hours on a bobcat and about 4 on the excavator). Does any one wear one and if so what are your thoughts and secondly where can I buy one if they slow up the aches and pains.
Well since Im not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to everything oil, fuel, gears and piston related topics.
I thought Id share some knowledge I have about protecting yourself while riding a motorcycle.

Some of you know I have raced motorcycles for a very long time, and with great certainty I’d be passing alot of blood through my urine by now had I never wore a kidney belt. If you look at many of the old pictures from road racers to dirt trackers right down to the common working man on an HD a significant amount of those guys are suited with kidney belts.
How many times after a long run ie: E.D.R., Gypsy Run…. You woke up feeling like you got punched in the gut. Im sure you equated it to the amount of beer and burritos you consumed the night before , but truth is even on
hermes mens belts a pristine paved road, there are dips, bumps, and motor vibration creating havoc on your kidneys… Especially if your riding rigid. Over the Road truckers encounter the same thing from being bounced around in that cab all day. Your Kidneys serve a specific function, to regulate, distribute and breakdown fluids and chemicals in the body, by having them bouncing around or taking on vibration makes them to work harder and or not work hard enough thus causing (over time) you to piss a burning stream of urine and blood.
I also have 2 vertebrate with healing compressions, which reduced me to a weekend racer and dashed any hopes of really making it. In any case I adapted my racing practices to my everyday riding habits and the use of kidney belt has helped me to walk the next morning with minimal amounts of back pain as
hermes belts for men well. Something to think about next time your packing up for the next run…just think how much more you can drink if your kidneys aren’t damaged by rough roads and constant vibration and how much longer you can leg hump here on the board if the sciatic nerve in your back isn’t acting up.
Like GI Joe says….. Knowing is half the battle.
